Services Available

 Assessment can be in the form of a full psycho-educational, IQ testing for gifted/talented placement,  brief assessment to answer specific questions when prior evaluations do not fully answer the client’s needs, Social emotional assessments and Vocational aptitude. Assessments typically include an intake process, direct assessment, observations in the clinical and natural settings, and a diagnosis can be provided. Areas for which we assess and potential diagnoses and recommendations.
Areas in which diagnoses are provided include:

• Developmental Coordination Disorder

  • Mathematics- Dyscalculia
  • Written Expression- Dysgraphia

 When learners present with challenges in core academic areas, early and immediate intervention is the primary means of attaining success. Interventions may include:

• Reading Decoding 
• Comprehension
• Spelling
• Math
• Written Expression
• Executive functioning
• Social emotional learning
• Test anxiety  

All intervention services are designed to address the particular needs of the learner. As people, we all have areas of personal strength and weakness. Some folks are very good with their hands, while others learn through seeing  or doing. Our interventions are designed to address particular learning differences so that students are able to study/learn in the way that works best for them.  
Individualized study programs are available in which students bring in their assigned work and can learn efficient learning/study methods through the work they already need to complete.  This not only helps students to complete what already needs to be done, without adding the stress of additional work, but leaves them with strategies to apply throughout their educational and subsequent vocational interests. 

 At times, families and educational entities have concerns and questions about learning needs, school placement, specific services, and navigating school systems/procedures.
Golden Gate Educational Services can help determine if assessment is necessary or when it might be most beneficial. Our services can include:

• Review of previous assessments and school records (including 504 plans and IEPs) 
• Specialized schools 
• Private schools
• Non-public schools
• Public school services

 Formal education in the United States can be difficult for families to navigate. Families may require supports to navigate school systems, procedures, and potential services in the school setting. Available advocacy services include:

• School and home observations
• Attend school meetings
• Coach parents and adult students as they work with service providers/determine needed services
• Develop relationships with schools to help clients access appropriate services
• Recommend private interventions to accompany existing services through public and private entities
